MISSING AMERICA

I miss our old America.
the way it use to be.
There was a time of innocence,
for Americans, you and me.

We use to leave our doors unlocked,
didn't worry about our kids.
They were safe to go about anywhere,
didn't worry much what they did.

There was no such thing as road rage.
Amber alert wasn't even needed.
Drugs were the exception,
and civil laws were mostly heeded.

Now people steal identities,
and germ warfare's in the works.
Terror attacks are common place.
Drugs becoming a daily perk.

Using up this land of ours,
we watch redwood forests fall.
If it isn't paved, we're going to,
adding to the urban sprawl.

I don't know when it started.
our journey down this spiraling path.
Children will surely pay the price,
inheriting the aftermath.

I miss the old America,
I miss the good old days.
It'd sure be nice to go home again
Back to the old American way
